Lumic aims to provide accurate, neutral ophthalmology information for free. This page explains our source policy, medical review, and how content is verified and updated.

Source Policy

  • We give priority to peer-reviewed papers, clinical guidelines, and primary sources.
  • Standard ophthalmology textbooks and information from public bodies and academic societies are used as supporting evidence.
  • Each article lists its references so that sources can be traced where possible.
  • Images are mainly cited from CC BY licensed papers and Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons, following each license.

References and Evidence

  • Medical claims are attributed to sources wherever possible, with a preference for primary sources.
  • Where evidence is not established or opinions differ, we try to make this clear in the text.

Updates and Corrections

  • Content is revised as medicine advances and information changes. Each article shows a last-updated date.
  • If you notice an error, please let us know via X. We will review it and correct it promptly where needed.

Translation Policy

  • Non-Japanese articles are translated with generative AI, tuned to be more accurate than standard browser translation.
  • However, terminology may still vary or be mistranslated. The Japanese version is the source of record.
